An 18-year-old male pedestrian, a Santa Clara University student, died after being struck by a vehicle in Santa Clara on Thursday morning, November 21, 2024.
Santa Clara Police Department officers responded to the scene on El Camino Real near Accolti Way at approximately 11:58 a.m., where they found the pedestrian with visible injuries.
Santa Clara Fire Department personnel provided first aid and life-saving measures before transporting the man to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The driver, who had been traveling southbound on El Camino Real, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. At this time, no other vehicles were reported to be involved, and drugs or alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
