[11-24-2023] San Mateo County, CA – Man Killed, Two Others Injured After Bicycle vs. Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 1 Near San Gregorio

A man was killed and two others were injured following a bicycle vs. two-vehicle collision near San Gregorio, San Mateo County, on Friday afternoon, November 24, 2023.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred after 2:00 p.m. along Highway 1 near Stage Road.

A bicyclist on the right shoulder was struck by a GMC Yukon male driver who was going north. Upon entering oncoming traffic, the GMC hit a Chevrolet Silverado and rolled over before crashing into a tree and getting caught in a fire halfway down an embankment.

The driver died on the scene, and his name was not released, pending notification of his next of kin. His passenger sustained minor injuries, while the bicyclist was taken to a hospital with severe injuries.

The cause of the collision is still being investigated. The authorities are encouraging anyone with information about the crash to contact them.
