A vehicle struck and killed two pedestrians in San Jose early Sunday morning, December 11, 2022.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 4:40 a.m. on southbound Highway 101.
Reports state that two pedestrians — a male and a female — were crossing from the center median to the right shoulder.
The 2021 Toyota struck them while they were southbound in the No. 1 lane.
Both victims suffered severe injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.
The victims’ names were withheld until they were positively identified and their next of kin were notified.
The CHP reports that rain fell at the time of the crash.
The driver of the Toyota was not charged while the investigation was ongoing.
It was not immediately apparent if the weather conditions played a part in the collision.
The CHP is urging witnesses and anybody with information about the crash to call the San Jose Area CHP Office at (408) 961-0900.
