Multi-Vehicle Crash Statistics
Because California has a lot of people, it’s no surprise that there are a lot of car accidents there. The California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) says that 3,563 people died in car accidents in California last year alone. In this case, a multi-vehicle collision occurred.
It is called a “multi-vehicle collision” when three or more cars are in the accident at the same time. They are usually caused by a “chain-reaction” crash, where one car bumps into another, which could cause it to crash into other vehicles on the road.
New York State says that multi-vehicle accidents make up about 7% of all accidents, making up more than 25% of all fatalities.
These kinds of accidents are caused by drunk driving, speeding, and being distracted while driving.
