[12-14-2022] San Diego County, CA – Hit-And-Run Driver Arrested After Striking One Person in Sable Spring

A hit-and-run driver was arrested after he struck another driver in Sabre Springs on Wednesday night, December 14, 2022.

Authorities reported that the collision occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Springbrook Drive near Mila Pitrero Road.

According to reports, officers received calls from a Ford Ranger driver struck by a large, elevated pickup truck.

The pickup truck driver immediately fled and went south on Springbrook towards Scripps Poway Parkway. He returned shortly after picking up his girlfriend.

After paramedics arrived, the suspect became hostile, and a fight erupted between the driver and a police officer, who bit the officer’s finger, taking a chunk out of it.

The officer was brought to a nearby hospital and stitched up for his injury.

The driver who reportedly bit the officer was detained and charged with two felonies, mayhem and resisting an officer, and a misdemeanor charge of hit-and-run.
