[12-17-2022] One Person Injured After Pedestrian Accident in Cortez HillAuthorities said a pedestrian was injured after being hit by a car in San Diego on Saturday morning, December 17, 2022.

According to the San Diego Police Department, the crash occurred around 10:00 a.m. on the 1600 block of 2nd Avenue in the Cortez Hill neighborhood.

The victim was a 36-year-old man reportedly standing on the double yellow divider on the road. He stepped in front of a 2013 Hyundai sedan southbound on the road for reasons under investigation.

The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital by emergency personnel, where he was treated for several face fractures and a shattered left collarbone. His injuries were not life-threatening.

The Hyundai then fled the site after hitting the pedestrian and continued traveling south on 2nd Avenue, entering the Interstate 5 freeway.

Police were able to locate the driver and interrogated him before releasing him. Investigators claim that alcohol did not play a role in this collision.
