[12-21-2022] Male Pedestrian Fatally Struck During Hit-And-Run Collision on Highway 299A male victim was found dead after a hit-and-run collision on Highway 99 on Wednesday morning, December 21, 2022.

The deadly crash reportedly transpired around 11:53 a.m. eastbound on State Route 299, west of State Route 200.

Authorities discovered an adult male with fatal injuries, launched a suspicious death investigation, and summoned the Humboldt County Coroner to the scene.

An autopsy was performed to help determine the cause and time of death.

Preliminarily, it is suspected that the victim was strolling on the south shoulder of the highway when he was hit by an unidentified vehicle.

The evidence gathered at the scene points to the suspect vehicle being a semi-truck with minor to moderate damage to its right side, including missing mirrors.

The victim’s identity remains confidential until the next of kin has been notified.
