[12-31-2023] San Bernardino County, CA – One Driver Airlifted, Several People Injured Following Fiery Two-Vehicle Crash in Hesperia

One driver was airlifted and several people were injured following a fiery collision in Hesperia on New Year’s Eve, Sunday, December 31, 2023.

According to the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District and Hesperia Police Department, the crash occurred at 10:32 p.m. between Fifth Avenue and Seventh Avenue on Main Street.

The collision involved two vehicles, a Ford Focus and a Honda sedan. Both vehicles were heavily damaged, with the Honda sedan fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters closed down westbound Main Street to put out the fire.

The Ford Focus driver was airlifted to a trauma center by a helicopter, while its passenger was not injured. In the Honda sedan, the occupants did not suffer from serious injuries and were able to escape the car before it was engulfed in flames.

Nearby establishments, including the Hesperia Leisure League Thrift Shop, sustained property damage. There was no evidence that drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident, but authorities are still investigating the cause.
