On Tuesday morning, a 21-year-old Elk Grove woman suffered severe injuries after a DUI vehicle crash accident on Sunrise Boulevard.
According to the CHP, the rollover crash happened around 2:30 a.m. at Sheldon Lake Drive and Grant Line Road.
The vehicle failed to navigate a curve while speeding down the road; it fell into a drainage ditch. It flipped multiple times, slamming into a wood fence and a parked vehicle before coming to rest in a vacant lot.
The passenger, a 21-year-old, was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected in the collision.
The driver had been pinned in the vehicle. He was taken urgently to the hospital but was declared dead due to his injuries.
According to the CHP, alcohol is believed to have contributed to the collision.
The deceased driver’s name has not been made public.
