[08-06-2022] Napa County, CA - One Man Attacked by Police K9 During Pursuit of Suspect in American CanyonAccording to the American Canyon Police Department, a bystander was bit by a police K9 that was pursuing a suspect in Napa County on Saturday, August 6, 2022.

The incident occurred on Saturday in American Canyon.

A 48-year-old suspect identified as James S. was pursued by ACPD when a police K9 was sent because officers deemed the suspect non-compliant.

Spencer eluded the police after colliding with another car on Highway 29 and Mini Drive.

When let loose, the K9 missed Spencer’s car and unintentionally bit a witness who was escaping the scene.

The bystander had been begging for cash in the middle of the intersection earlier.

The bystander was persuaded to seek medical evaluation by ACPD. After receiving treatment for minor injuries at Kaiser Permanente in Vallejo, he was discharged that same day.

Spencer, the suspect, was taken into custody without any further incident and is currently being held at the Napa County Department of Corrections.
