SINGLE-VEHICLE CRASH STATISTICS

Single-vehicle accidents are among the most dangerous types of car accidents in California, but many drivers are unaware of this.

Single-vehicle accidents account for 62 percent of all fatal car accidents in California, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Drivers in California must be aware of the various factors involved due to the high number of single-vehicle accidents.

Several factors can cause a single-vehicle collision. A run-off-the-road collision occurs when a driver loses control of their vehicle while speeding or making sharp turns on a wet, slick road. On the road, debris such as a large branch or something that fell from the back of a truck can be found.

Your comprehensive coverage plan will almost certainly limit your recovery in a single-car accident caused by something that wasn’t your or another driver’s fault, such as a deer running in front of your vehicle.

EL PASO COUNTY CAR ACCIDENT LAWYERS

Because of their injuries, many car accident victims cannot return to work or school. A victim’s death does not absolve a reckless driver of responsibility. Survivors of the victim may file wrongful death lawsuits against the negligent driver who caused the victim’s death (or legal heirs).

It is painful for them to relive their losses and grief. In depositions and trials, victims must testify about their losses in front of strangers. It can take months, if not years, for a case to be resolved, which can significantly impact one’s mental health.

It is critical to hold negligent drivers accountable if they cause an accident. Accountability is critical when negligence results in an unnecessarily high death toll. Wrongful death lawsuits can be emotionally draining for bereaved families and bring closure. This will benefit everyone who drives in California.
