[08-12-2022] Santa Clara County, CA - Firefighter Injured While Combating 2-Alarm Fire After Car Crashes In San JoseA firefighter was hurt when a vehicle tire blew while crews attempted to extinguish the fire at an apartment complex in San Jose on Friday, August 12, 2022.

The accident occurred on Friday afternoon in the 5600 block of Calmor Court.

A car smashed into the building, striking a gas meter, which caused a two-alarm fire to start. SKY7 flew overhead while firefighters were putting out the fire.

Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) was called to the scene to secure the gas line after the fire reached the attic of the two-story, four-unit building.

The firefighter had minor injuries and was sent to the hospital.

According to San Jose fire officials, the crisis is under control at 8:30 p.m.
