A hit-and-run collision involving a UC Santa Barbara Police Department lieutenant was confirmed to be driving under the influence and hitting several vehicles in Solvang Sunday, August 7, 2022.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred Sunday evening near the Solvang Brewing Company on Highway 246 at the intersection of 4th Place.
Near Solvang Brewing Company, UCPD Lieutenant Bradley P. collided with the side of another vehicle and kept going. He was later detained for DUI.
At the 4th Place and Highway 246 intersection, Prows was following a 2016 Honda Odyssey driver in a westbound direction. Prows attempted to pass the Odyssey on the left after the driver of that vehicle slowed down to pull into a parking space, according to the CHP.
According to the CHP, Prows continued driving westbound on the highway after crashing into the left side of the Odyssey rather than passing it. Prows pulled to the right shoulder and stopped about a mile from the crash site as the Odyssey pursued him to flag him down.
According to the CHP, Prows was assessed and found to be operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Officer Griffith or Sgt. Rivera at the Buellton CHP office by calling 805-688-5551. The collision is still being investigated.
