Many car accident victims cannot resume their jobs or studies due to their injuries. A reckless driver’s guilt is still on them even if a victim dies. Victim’s heirs have the right to sue the driver who was careless and killed the victim for wrongful death (or legal heirs).
Experiencing their losses and grief again hurts them. In depositions and courtroom proceedings, victims must speak in front of strangers about their losses. One’s mental health may be negatively impacted by the time it takes for a case to be resolved, sometimes even years.
If a driver causes an accident, it is imperative to hold them accountable. When negligence causes a disproportionately high death toll, accountability is essential.
