[08-17-2022] Contra Costa County, CA – Multi-Vehicle Crash Involving Big Rig Blocked Southbound Interstate Highway 680

According to the California Highway Patrol, a crash involving an overturned big rig and multiple other vehicles blocked all lanes of southbound Interstate Highway 680 on Wednesday morning, August 17, 2022.

The accident happened just before 7:45 a.m. on southbound Highway 680, just north of Pacheco Boulevard.

An ambulance was dispatched to the scene, but no information about possible injuries to those involved was immediately available.

All lanes were still closed as of 8:58 a.m., and there is no word on when they will reopen.

According to a tweet from Caltrans, crews were working to clear the roadway.

Motorists were advised to avoid the area and instead take I-780 to I-80 to the Carquinez Bridge.
