TRUCK ACCIDENT STATISTICS
Commercial trucks, such as big rigs and delivery trucks, endanger smaller vehicles and passengers. Truck drivers must be aware of the dangers posed by their large, unwieldy vehicles, and other drivers must exercise extreme caution when in their vicinity. Minor errors, such as failing to signal before changing lanes, can be disastrous when an eighteen-wheeler is involved, particularly at high speeds.
Because of the state’s large population, truck accident rates are frequently high in California. California is frequently a national leader in terms of data on car accidents and their victims. Truck accidents that result in injury or death are not uncommon in San Diego. Crash reports have steadily increased over the last few years.
According to California Highway Patrol data, the top three cities in San Diego County for truck accidents are San Diego, Oceanside, and Chula Vista. San Diego has the most residents. With over 49,000 motor vehicle accidents, it’s no surprise that it has the most overall crashes and injuries on the list.
