Fatal Multi-Vehicle Crash Statistics

When someone is involved in a car accident, the results can be devastating and long-lasting. Most people don’t give much thought to the grave dangers they face every time they get behind the wheel because car crashes are so common.

The high number of fatal car accidents in the United States has created a national emergency. According to the Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS) of the United States Department of Transportation data, 33,654 people were killed, and another 36,560 were injured as a result of traffic accidents in 2017.

Multi-vehicle accidents are extremely unusual and almost always have dire consequences.

When four or more vehicles are involved in an accident, it is considered a multi-vehicle accident. Multiple people have been involved in accidents that appear to be unrelated to one another. The increased complexity of this situation is directly linked to the larger number of people involved.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), multi-vehicle accidents cause one-quarter of all traffic fatalities. The annual death toll from such events is estimated at around 13,000 people.

Accidents involving more than one vehicle often require a trip to a court in order to determine who was at fault. There’s a chance you won’t be able to get any money for your injuries if you lose your case. Having a qualified attorney who specializes in car accidents on your side is crucial in this situation.

Rather than slamming into another car, try steering into a bush or railing in the event of a multiple-car collision. It is crucial to locate potential witnesses after an accident.

The liability is easily established when only two cars are involved. However, when there are several vehicles, finding a solution that works for everyone can be challenging.

As time passes, it becomes harder to identify the perpetrator. Many lives could have been lost if two or more cars had collided.

You should not rely on your insurance company to help you sort out the details of a multi-car accident in which negligence is unclear. Insurance companies always prioritize themselves first when deciding how to resolve a claim.
