Single-Vehicle Crash Statistics

The number of lives lost each year in California due to single-vehicle collisions is shocking. When only one car is involved in an accident, only that car is damaged. The vehicle may have swerved off the road or made contact with a stationary object, both of which could set off the alarm. Most of these crashes are caused by drivers who are too drowsy or drunk to pay attention to the road, as well as by low visibility and bad weather.

According to data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), single-vehicle crashes account for 62% of all traffic fatalities in the Golden State. California motorists must always be on the lookout for potential dangers on the road.

It’s not always easy to pinpoint what causes a crash involving a single vehicle. On wet roads, accidents and runaways are more likely to occur, especially when drivers try to make evasive maneuvers like quick or sharp turns. Truck cargo and fallen trees or branches are just two examples of what could potentially be dangerous roadside debris.

Even if the other driver was at fault, your ability to collect damages in a single-car accident may be severely restricted by your insurance policy’s coverage plan.
