Fatal Pedestrian Accident Statistics
Every time a car strikes a pedestrian, tragic things happen. Pedestrians have no protection when a vehicle crashes and are likely to suffer severe injuries.
According to reports, there has been an increase in pedestrian fatalities and injuries on American roads.
In the United States, there were 5,907 pedestrian fatalities last year. Recent statistics show that 88 people die in accidents every minute. In 2017, roughly 137,000 pedestrian accidents led to hospitalizations. In California, there were over 14,000 pedestrian injuries and 893 fatalities in 2018.
It is almost impossible to save a pedestrian’s life following a car accident. Pedestrians are extremely vulnerable to injury in a collision between two cars because they are unprotected.
Drivers who are careless or distracted are the leading causes of pedestrian fatalities and injuries. You should hire legal counsel if you want to strengthen your legal position.
