[08-26-2022] Placer County, CA – Vallejo Wrong-Way Truck Driver Caused Fatal Four-Vehicle Crash Near Tahoe City

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), an early-afternoon multi-vehicle crash involving four cars near Truckee and Tahoe City killed one person. It injured two others on Friday, August 26, 2022.

The crash happened at 1:20 p.m. on Highway 89.

According to the CHP, a 43-year-old Vallejo man driving a white International box truck north at an unknown speed crossed over solid double yellow lines and struck three vehicles traveling south.

Two of the vehicles were sideswiped, while another was struck head-on.

A 37-year-old Olympic Valley man driving a white Subaru was killed.

A 42-year-old Tempe, Arizona, resident driving a black Ford EcoSport and a 42-year-old Truckee resident driving a black Subaru Outback were also involved.

The driver of the black Subaru and box truck passenger were transferred to Tahoe Forest Hospital with minor injuries.

Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be factors.

The crash is still under investigation.
