According to the California Highway Patrol, a single-vehicle collision involving a silver 2009 Nissan Sedan was caused by a DUI driver resulting in a rollover crash in Newhall Saturday, August 27, 2022.
According to Josh Greengard, spokesman for the CHP Newhall Area office, the crash occurred around 10:50 p.m. on Soledad Canyon Road, north of Agua Dulce Canyon Road.
A preliminary investigation showed that the driver of a 2009 Nissan sedan turned too sharply and hit a dirt hill.
After more investigation, CHP officers gave the man a test to see if he was drunk and found that he was.
Greengard also said that the man was arrested for driving under the influence.
DUI Accident Statistics
Safety on the roads is a basic right of every person. People who drive while drunk put the lives of others in danger. The country has strict rules to stop people from driving while drunk.
It is careless to drive a car when you are drunk. When a drunk driver gets behind the wheel, everyone on the road is at risk of getting hurt or dying.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says drunk driving accidents kill about 10,000 people yearly. About 18% of car accidents that kill people are caused by alcohol or other drugs.
In California, car accidents caused by alcohol or drugs kill more than 2,000 people and seriously hurt more than 30,000 people every year. The state uses different blood alcohol content (BAC) standards to define DUI and DWI (driving while intoxicated). These standards depend on the driver’s age and the type of vehicle they are going.
Drunk drivers often can’t see, make good decisions, or act correctly in dangerous situations. On California’s most dangerous roads, drunk drivers pose an even bigger threat to public safety because their senses and minds aren’t as sharp, and they’re less able to think things through.
