[09-01-2022] Orange County, CA - 8-Year-Old Child was Severely Injured after a Bicycle Accident in Coto de CazaA boy, age 8, was struck and suffered severe injuries after a bicycle accident involving a pickup truck in Coto de Caza on Thursday morning, September 1, 2022.

According to CHP Patrol Officer Rafael R., the accident happened around 7:25 a.m. east of Oso Parkway and north of Coto de Caza.

The young patient was taken to Mission Hospital for surgery.

The boy was undoubtedly wearing a helmet, preventing him from suffering more severe wounds.

According to Concialdi, the boy’s condition was classified as critical when they took him to the hospital.

According to Capt. Steve C., of the Orange County Fire Authority, the boy was wearing a helmet, most likely preventing him from suffering more severe wounds.

The vehicle involved was a 1999 Ford F-150.

The pickup driver stayed put and assisted the police. Reynoso said that although the cause of the collision is still being investigated, investigators do not think alcohol or drugs were involved.
