[09-12-2022] San Diego County, CA – Pick-Up Truck Hit and Killed 79-Year-Old Pedestrian in Encinitas

According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, a pickup truck struck and killed a 79-year-old man in Encinitas on Monday, September 12, 2022.

The accident happened shortly before 6:00 a.m. in the 1300 block of Encinitas Boulevard.

The pedestrian was crossing the street when the vehicle struck him.

According to Sgt. Rob Siegfried, the victim was declared dead at the scene. His name was not immediately released.

The truck driver was not injured.

According to Siegfried, drugs or alcohol did not appear to contribute to the collision.

The crash was being investigated.
