[09-13-2022] Officials Identified a 45-Year-Old Died in a Single-Vehicle Accident on Highway 58According to the Kern County Coroner’s Office, Gilbert G., 45, of Bakersfield, has been named as the man killed in a fatal single-vehicle accident on Highway 58, Monday morning, September 12, 2022.

The accident transpired at around 6:30 a.m. on Highway 58, close to Oswell Street.

CHP officers responded to reports of a significant injury Honda crash that occurred sometime during the night but was only discovered.

Gomez lost control of the vehicle while using the Highway 58 westbound onramp west of Oswell Street for an unknown reason.

According to CHP, the car ran off the road, down an embankment, and overturned.

Gomez was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the car, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to CHP, it’s unclear whether alcohol or drugs played a role.
