[03-24-2023] San Diego County, CA – Cyclist Injured After Being Struck by Vehicle in Del Mar Heights

A bicycle crash left one man severely injured in San Diego on Friday night, March 24, 2023.

Authorities confirmed that the collision transpired around 11:55 p.m. in the 2200 block of Via De La Valle, Del Mar Heights.

According to reports, a 43-year-old man was riding a Cervelo ZHT bike in the second westbound lane when a 62-year-old man driving a red 2014 Ford MPV in the same lane struck the victim.

First responders transported the bicyclist to a nearby hospital for treatment of his severe but non-life-threatening injuries.

The SDPD Traffic Division responded to the accident, and the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
