[04-14-2023] Fresno County, CA – Police Officer, Two Others Injured in Downtown Fresno Two-Vehicle Crash

Three people were injured, including a police officer, after a two-vehicle collision in downtown Fresno on Friday morning, April 14, 2023.

According to the Fresno Police Department, the crash occurred around 8:30 a.m. on Fresno Street near G Street.

The officer reportedly responded after someone called in about seeing a man carrying a gun downtown. He was traveling toward the underpass with sirens and lights activated before colliding with a Honda.

A light pole was knocked over by the cruiser as it went through the underpass wall. The officer sustained a minor hand injury and drove himself to the hospital.

Emergency personnel transported the Honda driver to the hospital with unspecified injuries. A family member took another occupant.

As the investigation continued, Fresno Street’s eastbound lanes were closed for several hours.

No further information was immediately disclosed.
