[07-08-2023] Contra Costa County, CA – 51-Year-Old Male ATV Rider Killed After Suspected DUI Hit-And-Run Crash in Antioch

A 51-year-old male ATV rider identified as Jerry H. was killed after a suspected DUI hit-and-run crash in Antioch on Saturday evening, July 8, 2023.

According to the Antioch Police Department, at about 9:27 p.m., officers received calls of a two-vehicle head-on collision on Deer Valley Road and Wildflower Drive.

Officers discovered that Jerry H. was operating a quad ATV when Tatiana B., a 20-year-old female driver, drove the wrong way northbound in the southbound lane of Deer Valley Road.

Authorities stated that the collision caused the rider to be ejected from his ATV, and he died at the scene from his injuries. A 20-year-old female passenger from the other vehicle sustained a head injury and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Officials reported that the vehicle’s driver and two other occupants fled the scene. Officers detained the driver and two passengers a short distance away, who were then conveyed to the Antioch Police Station.

Alcohol is suspected to be a factor in this collision, but no additional information has been released. The driver of the vehicle was arrested and detained in the county jail.
