[07-11-2023] Sacramento County, CA – Two Pedestrians Killed by Suspected DUI Driver in North Highlands

Two pedestrians were struck and killed by a suspected DUI driver in Sacramento County on Tuesday night, July 11, 2023.

The California Highway Patrol responded to the accident around 8:30 p.m. in Elkhorn and Hillsdale Boulevards.

The female driver in her late teens to 20s was driving a Honda Civic when, for unknown reasons, she swerved to the sidewalk of Elkhorn Boulevard and continued driving, where two adults were reportedly walking and pushing carts. As a result, the driver struck both the male and the female pedestrian.

It was reported that both pedestrians died at the scene, while the driver was taken to a local hospital with unknown injuries. A DUI charge was also filed against the driver, who was arrested immediately.

There were no additional details regarding the identities of the people involved in the accident.
