[07-18-2023] Santa Clara County, CA – Infant Killed, Two Others Severely Injured After Being Struck by Vehicle in San Jose

An infant was killed, and two other pedestrians were injured after being struck by a car in San Jose on Tuesday morning, July 18, 2023.

According to the local authorities, the incident occurred at the intersection of King Road and Ocala Avenue on the city’s east side.

The driver struck the baby, a woman, and another young person at the intersection. Authorities said the driver responsible for the accident stayed at the scene.

Regrettably, the infant succumbed to the injuries on the scene, while the two others were taken to the hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.

The authorities have not disclosed the exact relationship between the three victims.

The cause of the crash is still unknown, but the city and SJPD have consistently emphasized that speeding is the primary factor behind fatal and severe injury crashes on San Jose streets.
