A 23-year-old woman was killed, and multiple people were injured after a DUI vehicle collision in Wildomar on Saturday morning, August 5, 2023.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 12:40 a.m. on the southbound Temecula Valley 15 freeway.
The report said the victim was driving a 2014 Hyundai Genesis at high speed on the southbound I-15 when she collided with the rear of a Nissan Rogue. The Hyundai came to a complete stop in the southbound No. 2 Lane and became disabled.
While the Hyundai was vulnerable, a 2019 Nissan Armada also traveled south on I-15 and collided with the Hyundai due to the darkness and lack of overhead lighting.
Tragically, the occupants of the Hyundai were not wearing seat belts and were ejected from the car, ending up in the center divider. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and her identity was not immediately available.
She was accompanied by a 24-year-old passenger named Alicia G. from Vista, who suffered major injuries. The driver of the Nissan Armada, identified as 47-year-old Nache P. from Aguanga, sustained minor injuries.
No immediate information is available regarding the occupants of the Nissan Rogue involved in the initial crash.
Investigators suspect that the deceased woman was driving under the influence of alcohol. The investigation is ongoing.
