A 34-year-old male pedestrian from Pasadena was killed after being hit by a Freightliner tractor towing a trailer in Winchester, Riverside County, on Wednesday morning, August 16, 2023.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred on the eastbound lanes of State Route 74, west of Amanda Avenue, at around 2:25 a.m.
The 59-year-old Hemet man was driving a white 2019 Freightliner eastbound on the highway when he struck the pedestrian, who was walking on the highway west of Amada Avenue. The pedestrian was knocked airborne and propelled southeastward onto the shoulder of the road.
An ambulance was called to the scene, and the victim was taken to Loma Linda University Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.
The identities of the people involved were not disclosed, pending further investigation.
