[08-17-2023] 2 Motorcyclists Dead After Fatal Head-On Collision in Mt. WhitneyTwo male motorcyclists are reported dead after a fatal head-on collision in Fresno County on Thursday night, August 17, 2023.

The California Highway Patrol responded to a collision report along Mt. Whitney Avenue West of Garfield Avenue at around 9:00 p.m.

A 38-year-old man riding a reportedly substandard motorcycle and a 43-year-old man riding a Yamaha were traveling in an unknown direction on Mt. Whitney, opposite each other’s direction.

For reasons unclear, both drivers collided with one another on the road, ejecting them from their vehicles and sustaining critical injuries. Officers stated that both riders died shortly after on the scene.

Investigation reveals that neither riders wore helmets nor had functioning headlights before the incident and appeared to be acquainted with one another.

The investigation is still ongoing, and no other automobile involvement has been found.
