[09-30-2023] Butte County, CA – Female Motorist Died Following Two-Vehicle Collision in Oroville

A woman died after a multi-vehicle crash in Oroville on Saturday morning, September 30, 2023.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred at 11:01 a.m. along Highway 99 near Toland Road.

The authorities reported that a black Cadillac Escalade driver named Sierra M. was heading northbound on Highway 99 when he attempted to pass a vehicle and semi-trailer by entering the opposing lane, but collided head-on with a woman driving a blue Honda Accord.

As a result, the driver of the Honda died in the crash. A child was in a Cadillac driver’s vehicle, but the young passenger sustained no significant injuries due to a child restraint system.

The suspect was transported to a local hospital for treatment and is being held for vehicular manslaughter. CHP disclosed that it is unknown whether drugs or alcohol were involved in the collision.

As the investigation continues, the authorities have yet to release additional information about the collision and its cause.
