Roads were closed due to a collision between a train and a semi-truck in Redding on Wednesday afternoon, October 04, 2023.
According to the Redding Police Department, the incident happened at Eastside Road along Radio Lane and Highway 273.
A semi-truck was reportedly pulling a “low boy” trailer carrying large equipment. Due to the weight of the object being transported, the trailer was lowered for ground clearance. This got it trapped on the tracks until a freight train collided with the semi-truck.
It is unclear whether anyone sustained visible injuries, and information regarding the total number of victims is unavailable.
Due to a diesel fuel leak, Eastside Road and Highway 273 were closed, and northbound traffic was rerouted.
The authorities are investigating the collision, and the factors that got the truck stuck on the tracks are being determined.
