[10-13-2023] Santa Barbara County, CA – Pedestrian Seriously Injured After Vehicle Collision on La Cumbre Road

A pedestrian was seriously injured after a collision with a vehicle in Santa Barbara on Friday night, October 13, 2023.

The Santa Barbara Police Department responded to reports of the incident around 9:00 p.m. in the 1st North block of La Cumbre Road.

Initial investigation indicated that the pedestrian was walking in the roadway when they were struck. The victim was immediately transported to a nearby hospital to be treated for major injuries.

The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and cooperated with the police, who stated that drugs and alcohol were not involved in the crash.

According to a study by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, hit-and-run accidents caused twenty-four percent (24.3 percent) of pedestrian fatalities in 2020.
