[03-08-2024] Alameda County, CA – Fourteen People Injured After After Multi-Vehicle Collision Involving Bus in Oakland

Fourteen people were injured after a multi-vehicle collision involving a bus in Oakland on Friday afternoon, March 8, 2024.

According to the Oakland Fire Department, the incident happened around 5:00 p.m. near the International Boulevard and 54th Avenue intersection.

Officers said that a Chrysler 300 going south on International Boulevard collided with a Prius that was trying to make a left turn at the intersection. The impact of the crash threw the Chrysler into the other lane of the roadway, striking a nearby AC Transit bus in the process.

Responders said that fourteen people were hurt in the accident, with two of them sustaining major injuries. Ten of them, including the driver of the bus, were taken to the hospital for further treatment.

Speeding was initially believed as a factor in the accident. It is still unclear who was responsible for the crash.

No further details were immediately provided. Police work is underway.
