What To Do After A Scooter Accident In Riverside, CA

Scooter accidents in Riverside are becoming increasingly common due to the popularity of electric scooters for short commutes and recreational use. Knowing what to do immediately after a scooter accident can help protect your health, rights, and ability to seek compensation for damages.

Here’s a guide on what to do after a scooter accident in Riverside:

  1. Stay Calm — Take a moment to gather your thoughts and check yourself for injuries. Staying calm is crucial—do not admit fault, even if you feel guilty.
  2. Move to Safety — If you can, move to a safe area away from traffic to avoid further danger. Wait for law enforcement to arrive at the scene.
  3. Call 911 — Contact the police to report the accident, especially if there are injuries or significant property damage. They will document the incident and create an official report, which is vital for any future claims.
  4. Exchange Information — Collect names, contact details, and insurance information from everyone involved in the accident. Take photographs of the scene, including any damage to vehicles, bicycle details, and relevant road signs.
  5. Do Not Admit Fault — When speaking with police officers, stick to the facts about what happened. Provide as much detail as possible without speculating or taking blame.
  6. Seek Medical Attention — Visit a healthcare professional as soon as possible, even if you feel fine. Some injuries may not manifest immediately, and prompt medical evaluation can prevent complications.

By comparison, conventional bicycles accounted for 2.5 million injuries, while traditional scooters were linked to 304,000 injuries.

It’s important to note that the actual number of electric scooter and bicycle accidents might be higher than reported.
