What To Do After Being Injured In A Pedestrian Accident
Our skilled personal injury attorneys highly encourage you to take the following steps if you get involved in a pedestrian accident, provided you are still able to do so. Taking these steps will help ensure your safety and protect your legal rights to fair compensation:
- Prioritize Safety — If you can do so, try to move to the side of the road to avoid further harm. Check yourself and others involved for any injuries.
- Call The Police — Call 911 and report the accident to the authorities. You can ask for the official police report later on, which will be an important document for your claim.
- Gather Evidence — Take pictures and videos of the accident scene, your injuries, and other damages. Collect contact information from the driver and nearby witnesses. These can serve as evidence for your claim.
- Do Not Admit Fault — Even simple statements like “I’m sorry” can be used against you and downplay your losses and damages. Because of that, you need to be careful with what you say at the scene or to insurance companies.
- Seek Medical Care — Go to the hospital or your doctor for a more thorough medical evaluation and treatment. This is crucial even if your injuries seem minor or you feel fine. Medical records documenting your injuries are critical for an injury claim.
- Reach Out To Our Pedestrian Accident Attorneys — Call our lawyers specializing in pedestrian accidents to discuss your case. We’ll help you navigate the complex legal process and seek fair and full compensation. Our pedestrian accident lawyers will take care of your claim and pursue the justice you deserve.
