[01-23-2025] San Diego County, CA – Elderly Pedestrian Seriously Injured After Being Hit While In Crosswalk In Teralta West

An elderly man sustained serious injuries after being struck by a pickup truck while walking in a crosswalk in San Diego‘s Teralta West neighborhood on Thursday morning, January 23, 2025.

According to the San Diego Police Department, officers responded to the 4100 block of University Avenue around 7:47 a.m. after receiving reports of a pedestrian crash.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the man was walking north in a crosswalk when he was hit by a southbound 2019 Toyota Tacoma driven by a 29-year-old man in the 4000 block of Marlborough Avenue. Emergency responders transported the pedestrian to a hospital, where he was treated for a brain bleed.

Authorities have not yet determined if alcohol was a factor in the collision. It remains unclear whether the driver remained at the scene following the crash.
