[03-13-2025] Teen E-Bicyclist Seriously Injured in Crash with Semitrailer in CapitolaA 17-year-old male e-bicyclist sustained serious injuries after being struck by a semitrailer in Capitola on Thursday night, March 13, 2025.

According to the Capitola Police Department, the collision occurred around 8:40 p.m. at the intersection of 41st Avenue and Clares Street. Authorities reported that the semitrailer was delivering to a nearby business at the time of the incident.

The teen, riding a Super 73 e-bike, was found under the semitrailer with significant injuries. Capitola officers arrived within two minutes and applied a tourniquet before emergency responders transported him by helicopter to a regional trauma center in serious but stable condition.

The semitrailer driver was not impaired, remained at the scene, and rendered aid to the injured teen.

Authorities are seeking any available footage of the crash.
