Motorcycle Accident Statistics
Motorcyclists face a higher risk of severe and fatal injuries in traffic accidents. According to 2022 data from the National Safety Council, motorcycles accounted for only 3% of all registered vehicles and less than 1% of total vehicle miles traveled in the U.S. However, motorcyclists made up 14.6% of all traffic fatalities and 3.5% of injuries, highlighting the significant dangers riders face compared to other motorists.
One of the primary reasons motorcyclists are more vulnerable is the lack of external protection. Unlike drivers in enclosed vehicles, motorcyclists have no steel frame to absorb the force of a crash, making them more susceptible to serious injuries upon impact.
Beyond the physical toll, motorcycle accidents often leave victims facing costly medical bills, lost income, and emotional distress. If you or a loved one has been injured in a motorcycle accident, our Long Beach motorcycle accident attorneys are here to help.
