A 42-year-old Monrovia man was killed in a two-vehicle crash on the westbound 210 Freeway east of Irwindale Avenue in Irwindale on Friday afternoon, April 11, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, at around 4:40 p.m., officers were dispatched to the scene following a collision involving a gray Hyundai Elantra and a gray Chevrolet Impala.
CHP Capt. Vic Walton reported that 18-year-old Rashad M. of Fontana was driving the Hyundai westbound when the vehicle veered right and struck a metal electrical box on the freeway shoulder. The Hyundai continued in a northwestern direction and collided with the Impala, which had just entered the freeway from the Irwindale Avenue on-ramp.
The Impala was struck on the left side, causing it to travel westbound and come to rest on a dirt embankment. The Hyundai also lost control and came to rest nearby.
The driver of the Impala was pronounced dead at the scene. It was unclear whether he was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
The CHP stated that alcohol and drugs were not considered contributing factors. The investigation is ongoing.
