Here’s what you should:

  1. Prioritize Safety — To prevent further accidents, move to a safe location away from traffic if possible. If anyone’s injured, call 911 right away.
  2. Inform The Local Police — Promptly reporting the hit-and-run to law enforcement increases the chances of locating the responsible driver. A police report will be crucial to support your legal claim, so make sure to obtain a copy for future use.
  3. Gather Enough Accident Information — Stay calm after an accident and gather as much information as possible. Record the license plate, make, model, and color of the vehicle. Note the time, location, and weather conditions, along with any details about the cause of the crash or the driver’s direction.
  4. Get The Contact Information Of Witnesses — If there are any witnesses to the hit-and-run, collect their names and contact info. Their accounts can help law enforcement find the driver.
