One person was killed following a two-vehicle crash in south Bakersfield on Wednesday morning, May 21, 2025.
According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the collision occurred just before 3:00 a.m. at the intersection of Hosking Avenue and Hughes Lane.
A woman driving a Buick Roadmaster suffered major injuries and was transported to the hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Authorities stated that the woman made a left turn against a red light and was struck by another vehicle traveling eastbound on Hosking Avenue. The male driver of the second vehicle was uninjured and remained at the scene to cooperate with investigators.
Police confirmed that speed, alcohol, or drugs do not appear to be contributing factors in the incident.
The crash remains under investigation.
