A teen and an adult sustained moderate to major injuries in a two-vehicle crash in Shandon, San Luis Obispo County, on Sunday afternoon, July 27, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred at approximately 1:42 p.m. on State Route 46 at McMillan Canyon Road.
The crash involved a 17-year-old driving a 1998 Lexus sedan and an adult woman driving a 2015 Toyota Highlander.
The CHP reports that the teen was traveling northbound on West Centre Street, while the Toyota driver was traveling eastbound on State Route 46 at about 68 miles per hour. For reasons still under investigation, the teen drove onto State Route 46, directly into the path of the oncoming Toyota.
Both vehicles collided, with the front of the Toyota striking the left side of the Lexus. The Toyota came to a rest in the median, and the Lexus stopped on the right shoulder of the highway.
