In the first half of 2024, crashes involving drivers led to the deaths of 3,304 pedestrians in the United States. This was a 2.6% decrease from the same time in 2023, meaning 88 fewer people were killed while walking.
However, when we look at the bigger picture, pedestrian deaths have increased over time. Compared to 2014, there were 1,072 more pedestrian fatalities in early 2024.
