A 73-year-old woman was killed, and a 24-year-old woman was hospitalized after a vehicle crashed into a home in Downey early Saturday morning, August 16, 2025.
According to the Downey Police Department, the incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. in the 9500 block of Gallatin Road, just west of the Santa Ana (5) Freeway.
Authorities said a 24-year-old man from Maywood was driving eastbound on Gallatin Road when his car plowed into the residence. He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
The 73-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the driver was not injured.
The investigation is ongoing.
