[09-11-2025] Merced County, CA โ€“ Bicyclist Killed on Bloss Avenue East of Golf Link Road

A 60-year-old man from Hilmar was killed after being struck by a car while riding his bicycle in Merced County on Thursday night, September 11, 2025.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 11:20 p.m. on Bloss Avenue, east of Golf Link Road.

The bicyclist was traveling westbound with a small red flashing light on the back of his bike and a flashlight in the front. A 16-year-old driver from Stevenson was driving a 2015 Infiniti Q50 westbound at approximately 60 miles per hour when he failed to see the bicyclist and struck him from behind.

The teenage driver stopped immediately, called 911, and cooperated with investigators. Officers determined he was not impaired at the time of the crash. The impact threw the bicyclist onto the north shoulder of Bloss Avenue, and he was pronounced deceased at the scene despite lifesaving efforts.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
