[09-23-2025] Los Angeles County, CA โ€“ 36-Year-Old Woman Killed After Being Struck By Vehicle Near Cherry Avenue and Curry Street in Long Beach

A 36-year-old woman, Shalanda Y., was killed after being struck by a vehicle near Cherry Avenue and Curry Street in Long Beach on Tuesday morning, September 23, 2025.

According to the Long Beach Police Department, officers responded around 4:00 a.m. and found the woman lying in the roadway with critical injuries. Fire Department paramedics arrived and provided medical aid, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police reported that a 2015 Honda Civic, traveling southbound on Cherry Avenue, struck the woman after the driver attempted to avoid another person in the roadway. The driver, a 30-year-old man from Norwalk, remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.

Authorities continue to investigate the fatal collision.
