An 86-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries after being struck by a Jeep Grand Cherokee while riding his bicycle on Main Street in Egger Highlands, San Diego County, on Thursday, October 16, 2025.
According to San Diego Police Department Officer Jose Perales, the crash occurred around 3:49 p.m. in the 2500 block of Main Street.
The victim was riding northbound on Alamitos Avenue when he crossed the eastbound lanes of Main Street and entered the westbound lanes. As he reached the westbound No. 2 lane, he was struck by a westbound Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by a 39-year-old man.
The victim sustained a blood clot around the brain, a fractured scapula, a fractured ankle, and a fractured foot. He was transported to a hospital in critical condition.
The Traffic Division of the San Diego Police Department is investigating the incident.
